OB Electronically Based Dashboard

In today’s environment, it is more important than ever for hospitals, physicians, and insurers to assure not assume that robust safety and risk mitigation strategies are being used consistently. To support this need, we have created an OB-specific “dashboard."

The dashboard is the result of an analysis of relevant peer-reviewed literature, data, and claims experiences vetted with obstetrician content experts, including physicians, risk managers, obstetrical nurses, and legal risk professionals (defense attorneys and quality/safety professionals). The criteria for this obstetrical dashboard are evidence-based and data-driven, and directly tied to liability exposure (both frequency and severity) for obstetrician-gynecologists and their office practices and affiliated hospitals.

• Physicians use the dashboard to benchmark their safety and risk practices with those of similarly situated physicians.
• Hospitals use the dashboard to assure that the good safety and risk strategies they require are being used consistently in their departments.
• Insurers use the dashboard to evaluate the safety and risk practices of their insureds.
• Physicians, hospitals, and insurers all use the dashboard as an educational tool as well.

The dashboard is web-based and is administered by OB Consult's risk manager. In addition to the electronic questionnaire associated with the dashboard, educational information is provided, and actual OB-safety risk tools and strategies are immediately available to the user.
